The Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CDHT) was founded in 1988 and was authorized as one of the first national high-tech industrial development zones by the State Council in 1991. In 2006, it was identified as one of the first pilot zones for fostering “world-class high-tech zone”approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC. Further, in 2015, the State Council authorized it as the first national innovation demonstration zone in western China. It has also been selected for a slew of other honors, including recognition as a national science-finance integrated pilot area, a national intellectual property demonstration area, a national high-tech property standardization demonstration area, a national copyright demonstration park, a national well-known brand creation demonstration area as well as state-level export demonstration zone of quality and security electronic information products. Moreover, it is the core area of Sichuan Provincial comprehensive innovation reform pilot zone and pilot free trade zone.
